c.1890 German Gold-Plated Openwork Rococo Revival Brooch with Pink Gemstones in clover setting

€65.00

An elegant example of German Rococo Revival jewellery, this gold-plated brooch is formed from sweeping, interlocking scrolls arranged into a boldly asymmetrical openwork body. The composition is intersected by a horizontal baton, capped with a floral terminal. At its centre rests a die-struck clover appliqué, raised above the surrounding scrollwork and set with three large, vibrantly pink faceted glass stones. The layered construction and vivid jewel-like centre lend the brooch the animated ornamental character so distinctive of the late 19th-century Rococo revival.

The brooch measures 3,9 x 1,8 cm and makes use of a C-Catch to fasten the pin on the back.

This brooch is in near perfect Antique condition! No major visible dents or scratches. Some very minor wear on the gold-plating which is not noticeable when worn. The pin is very sturdy and in full working order. Fully cleaned and ready to wear!
