1880s Gilt Victorian Horseshoe Bar Brooch set with Turquoise and Seed Pearls
This beautifully preserved Victorian bar brooch showcases the solid, assured construction characteristic of the period and is most likely crafted in silver-gilt. At its centre sits a finely modelled horseshoe motif, richly set with delicate seed pearls and vivid turquoise cabochons, and centred by a brilliant-cut faceted rhinestone that provides a crisp white focal point to the composition. The harmonious interplay of materials creates a striking contrast of colour and texture while carrying strong symbolic meaning. Exemplifying the confident design language and robust craftsmanship of the 1880s, this brooch reflects a time when jewellery balanced sentiment with architectural clarity. A particularly appealing and increasingly scarce survivor, this brooch remains as compelling today as it was when first worn—an unmistakable emblem of luck, protection, and Victorian refinement.
The brooch measures 5 cm long and 1,4 cm wide and makes use of a C-Catch to fasten the pin on the back.
This brooch is in perfect Antique condition! No major visible dents or scratches. Some very minor wear on the gilding near the edges, which is barely visible. The pin is very sturdy and in full working order. Fully cleaned and ready to wear!
