An intricately detailed French chatelaine watch fob, dating to the late 19th century. Its main body is constructed from a mesh of silver-plated brass links, which have been threaded and oxidised to create a richly textured, darkened appearance. This is set throughout with polished gold-plated roundel appliqués, creating a lively contrast against the darkened metalwork. The chain terminates in an articulated spinner fob: a gold-plated rotating ball held within silver-toned filigree wirework and framed by a beautifully decorated scrolling openwork mount. A wonderfully tactile Victorian accessory, combining decorative richness with the playful movement of a spinner fob.
The fob is about 13,7 cm long and 1,6cm wide. While originally Intended to be suspended from a pocket watch, it can easily be used as a stylish keychain or attached to your car keys!
